Annie Ross House holds a holiday celebration every December. Current and former Annie Ross residents, staff members and volunteers gather for the event. This year the party included a new venue, dinner, and plenty of activities for the kids – ornament making, face painting, and the chance to have a serious heart-to-heart with Santa Claus. Parents “shop” at our special holiday store full of brand new donated toys and gifts for kids of all ages, wrapping paper, ribbons and bows – all free for families with low-incomes who could use a little help. The store even included stockings and baskets stuffed with goodies for moms and dads who may not have otherwise received any holiday presents. All the contents of the holiday store were provided by very generous donors in the community.
The annual holiday party is staffed by volunteers of all ages. The elves and even the Big Man himself gave their time to make this a stellar event! This celebration ensures a great holiday season for families in need in our community. This year we were lucky to have some gifts left over after serving Annie Ross families, so we were able to share with residents and clients of other Clackamas County agencies who also serve families with very low incomes. All in all, 62 families including 154 children and 65 parents were served. All this was made possible by help from our dedicated, local supporters! Thanks again to everyone who participated in making this holiday season special for Annie Ross House families and all through the year!

Northwest Housing Alternatives held ceremonies to mark the completion of Hearthstone, a new group home for people with special needs. The property will provide a home and care for five adults. The project received very generous support from HomeAid Portland, the charitable arm of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland. HomeAid and project captain Arbor Homes spearheaded efforts that resulted in donation of labor and/or materials from every subcontractor who helped build the home. In all, HomeAid contributed a substantial portion of the cost of construction - over $150,000 in all!
